Why see a Dental Hygienist?

A Dental Hygienist, or Oral Health Therapist, are an important facet in maintaining good oral health. They examine patients’ teeth and gums for signs of disease, remove plaque build-up and stains, and advise patients on how to look after teeth and gums to maintain oral health.

Dental Hygienists assist dentists in treating patients, and use preventative, educational and therapeutic methods in the effort to help patients maintain oral health. Dental Hygienists can also perform restorative or preventative procedures for health or cosmetic needs.

You should see a Dental Hygienist every 3-6 months. At these appointments we will clean your teeth by removing tartar deposits, and hardened plaque. Doing so helps to prevent the chances of gum disease and tooth decay, thereby reducing the risk of tooth loss and other serious health conditions.
