Why should you scrape your tongue?

There are many benefits to tongue scraping. The practice has been around since ancient times. You may know that the tongue can be a good indicator of what’s going on inside your body. Your tongue develops a film when you sleep, and build-up throughout the day. If left untreated it can lead to bad breath, but also can contain a significant number of bacteria. This bacteria can contribute to things like periodontal problems, plaque build-up, tooth decay, gum infections, gum recession, and even loss of teeth.

How often should you scrape your tongue? Regularly, preferably in the morning. Most toothbrushes have a scraper on the back of them.
